Benguerra Lodge

Set among swaying palm trees, ten casitas and two cabanas peep out directly onto ocean vistas, while a spacious family suite ensures privacy and exclusivity. Set under local thatch, both casitas and cabanas combine whimsical Arabic style with clean lines and chic interiors. Large windows with dark wooden shutters gaze out towards the Indian Ocean, while private timber decks and cool plunge pools offer a secluded alternative to beach sands and ocean waters. Woven hammocks invite guests to an afternoon siesta, lulled by a chorus of songbirds that makes the forest canopy its home.

The Lodge

Warm and intimate, with a distinct East African feel, &Beyond Benguerra Island is a tropical paradise tucked into a lush indigenous forest and looking out onto a picturesque crescent of sandy beach.

A shaded gazebo provides the ideal venue for starlit dinners, while the stylish dining room and open lounge, both boasting wide, sunny verandas, are the setting for more social dining.

The second largest island of the Bazaruto Archipelago, Benguerra offers exceptional opportunities to explore some of the

very best of Mozambique’s magnificent marine life and experience an abundance of island adventures. Characterised by

its towering sand dunes, inland lakes and idyllic beaches, Benguerra was declared a National Park in 1971.

It is home to over 140 bird species and the waters surrounding the archipelago are home to Africa’s last remaining population

of the rare dugong. With one of the most pristine coral reefs in the world just offshore, the island waters boast a staggering variety of colourful and exotic tropical fish, while keen fishermen can target a full range of game fish, from sailfish to

giant trevally, bonito and marlin (catch-and-release).

Guests visiting the island awake to the sounds of fishermen trading their daily catch from their traditional sailing dhows and embark on a series of adventures that includes dhow cruises, diving, snorkelling and exhilarating catch-and-release deep-sea fishing.
