The Oyster Bay is like staying with friends ... a beautiful large "home and garden" with eight superb and luxurious ocean facing suites, with stunning bathrooms and fabulously furnished in contemporary African style. The luxurious suites reflect modern day Africa in a timeless setting - balmy, equatorial, coastal Dar es Salaam.
You will feel that you are staying somewhere special and that your 'enforced' stay in Dar es Salaam becomes yet another highlight of your stay in Africa. Extensive lounges and terraces overlooking mature gardens, swimming pool and within secure walking distance of the Oyster Bay shopping centre.
The Oyster Bay
The Oyster Bay is purely designed for travellers who are passing through Dar es Salaam, whether for a few hours or for overnight. The experience starts at the port or airport and ends by delivering the guest back to the port or airport. The experience is a totally fully inclusive package of transfers, accommodation, meals and drinks. The resident 'family' of managers and staff are there to make sure that each guest enjoys the Oyster Bay experience to the full. It is designed to be a 'home' in the city rather than a hotel and to replicate the feeling of staying with 'friends'. Guests who feel at home will find that their short stay in Dar es Salaam is as equally memorable as the rest of their holiday in East Africa.
The Oyster Bay has eight spacious ocean facing suites with balconies situated on three floors. There is no lift but the view from the upper levels is certainly worth the exertion of getting there - and of course the ocean breezes are stronger the higher you go. All suites are air conditioned, but also have louvred shutters and cross ventilation for those who do not wish to sleep in air-conditioning. The suites are furnished with either king sized or twin beds and have lounge furnishing as well as writing desks and plasma screen televisions. The ensuite bathrooms are open plan and contain a free-standing bath, walk through shower and enclosed toilet facility.
Furnished in the style of a private house with modern contemporary African décor, the lounges and dining areas flow out on to a covered verandah and to a gazebo to enjoy the space and contemporary designed garden. There is a study with internet access. All areas are air conditioned for the hotter more humid months, but also have lots of French doors to allow for cooling by 'tropical breeze'. Meals are served on the verandah, in the dining area and on the pool deck depending on time of day and weather conditions.
